These coins celebrate the wedding of HRH Prince Harry of Wales and Ms Meghan Markle. The Royal Mint issued a brand new £5 coin. The coin was approved by Buckingham Palace and features a design by Jody Clark based on a portrait of the couple taken from a private sitting as well as an inscription of the date of the wedding. The couple got together in 2016 after meeting through mutual friends, and their engagement was announced 27th November 2017. The Wedding took place at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on 19th May 2018. 600 guests were invited to the ceremony at the Chapel followed by a reception at St George’s Hall hosted by the Queen, and 2,640 members of the public were invited to the Windsor Castle grounds, including many charity workers.
